A Wave of Change

Hello new year, new hair

On my last session at Headlines By Artistry, I lightened my hair colour and in the process, my “wash and go” curls loosened significantly. I took a break from chemically treating my hair and came back after two months for a Mucota DYNA Treatment Perm. This time my stylist, Elein, and I agreed that we would want to try a perm with tighter locks instead. The tighter curls would eventually loosen a little over a couple of weeks to form waves. I thought to myself, “Why not?”

My first perm lasted about two plus months (taking into account the changes in environment and care levels because of my travels) and gradually loosened very nicely till I had nicely curled ends, even without hair products, before finally straightening out. I hear DYNA perms can last up to three months depending on hair quality and the care taken in retaining them, so I guess two months was already pretty awesome when you see how pin-straight my hair is naturally.

This time round, the DYNA perm has lasted me almost two months and counting. It continues to retain its shape as well. Of course its not as tight as when I first stepped out of the salon, but with a bit of product, the curls fall very nicely. These photos featured in this post were taken over Chinese New Year and I hardly had time to style my hair because I had to wake up early to visit my relatives!

I still don’t blow dry my hair, so this is just my permed hair and hair oil at work. I’m guessing if I used a stronger hold product and blow dried my hair, the curls would look even more romantic and curly instead of wavy. That said, I am loving this change.

Because I have been chemically treating my hair for the past couple of months (even if the DYNA perm is gentle), it is important for me to use a bit more hair care treatments now and I mask my hair thrice a week and use hair oil if I want to keep any unruly stray hairs in place. My hair is still generally easy to upkeep and maintain.

I’m really glad that Elein connected with me those months ago and introduced me to the Mucota DYNA Argan Oil Treatments and Perm. It’s the first fuss-free perm experience I’ve had and now I am hooked. For more promotions and updates, visit Headlines by Artistry’s Facebook Page.
